If this doesn't make you want to recycle...

nothing will.
Doesn't this just make you sad/ill/mad/frustrated?!

A 2nd garbage patch: Plastic soup seen in Atlantic

So please, for me, if you choose to use plastic bags from the grocery store, recycle them. Almost every superstore has a place to recycle them.
Its a great start to recycling!
Hopefully, in your area, there will be even more plastic recycling options.

An even better option is to use reusable grocery bags. If we all used them, there would be no need for plastic shopping bags!
I know...it's a pipe dream, but wouldn't that be great?

Another tip is to get a stainless steel water bottle that you can refill with a faucet filter or filtered pitcher. The amount of plastic water bottles that are thrown away each day is mind numbing.

thanks for indulging me my little rant lecture =)

From Found to Fab! - volume 1

A new chapter in the blog is opening today. I hope you enjoy it and get a little inspiration, too!

I found this little table/desk/whatever at Goodwill for $3.99. Isn't it adorable??
Structurally, it was very sound. The wooden top had a few nicks and bumps, but that just added to its charm. It even has a little drawer...too cute, eh?
The tin label stamped onto the frame said it was made by the Bramwood Press. It was a company that made office furniture and also printed documents in Indianapolis. The only documentation I could find for this company was an estimate for printing from 1912 and an ad from a 1962 Life Magazine.
So, for a date on this little guy, your guess is as good as mine.

All it needed was a coat of paint.
I painted the brick wall in my kitchen a kitchy aqua blue and the inside of my dish cabinet is a tomato red. I wanted something simple, but colorful.
The steel frame needed no work whatsoever, but the top got a little face lift.
The base was painted the aqua, the tree is dark chocolate brown topped off with a tomato red bird. Not sure what kind of bird, but it must to be a bird, cuz its got whaaaaangs.
See how I cheated and just painted silhouettes? =)
I hope you like the result!

next From Found to Fab is an adorable steel patio chair with footstool...it needs some work, so give me a week...or so. =)

Mushroom Chicken with buttered egg noodles

Easy as pie and wonderful with some buttered egg noodles and a great salad on the side!

what you'll need:

~ 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts

dredge in flour and saute' in about 4 T. olive oil over medium heat until cooked through and golden brown. Remove the chicken from the pan and set aside for later.

now...toss in:

~ 1 small can sliced mushrooms with the juice
~ 1/4 c. white wine

Using a whisk, deglaze the pan with the juices. Let the mixture come to a simmer and it will begin to thicken. Add some salt, pepper and I like onion and garlic powder to taste.
Then add:

~ 1/2 c. heavy cream, half and half or evaporated milk

Whisk in well and add the chicken breasts back to the pan, coat them with the sauce and let it all simmer for 5 - 10 minutes.
Serve with some happy little buttered egg noodles....just call me Ross, Bob Ross.
Oh and toss some fresh parsley or basil on those noodles.
